Mary's Village: A Place Where Hope Begins

About Mary’s Village

At Mary’s Mercy Center, we believe every person is created in the image of God and deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, hope, and purpose. Mary’s Village is a faith-centered transitional living community where men experiencing homelessness are given the support, stability, and resources needed to rebuild their lives and create a brighter future.

Opened in September 2020, Mary’s Village is a 30,000-square-foot therapeutic community made possible through the extraordinary generosity of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, dedicated community partners, and compassionate supporters who believed in Fr. Barry’s vision of offering more than shelter; a place where lives can truly be transformed.

Our comprehensive 12–24 month residential program serves adult men (18 years and older) experiencing homelessness. More than providing a safe place to live, Mary’s Village empowers residents to heal physically, emotionally, spiritually, and socially through individualized care and a supportive community rooted in compassion and accountability.

Residents participate in a wide range of evidence-based and life-enriching services, including:

  • Individual counseling and case management
  • Group therapy
  • Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA)
  • Physical and behavioral health services
  • Life skills development
  • Educational opportunities
  • Job readiness and vocational training
  • Financial literacy and independent living preparation

Every resident works alongside dedicated staff to establish personal goals, strengthen healthy relationships, develop life skills, and prepare for long-term independence. The program is offered at no cost, ensuring financial barriers never stand in the way of a fresh start.

At Mary’s Village, we don’t simply provide housing; we restore hope, rebuild confidence, and help men rediscover their God-given potential. Every life transformed is a testament to the power of faith, compassion, and a community committed to walking alongside those seeking a new beginning.

From a Dream to a Legacy: The Story of Mary's Village

Discover the inspiring story of Mary’s Village through the eyes of Terry Kent, Mary’s Mercy Center Board Member and Owner of Crestwood Communities. What began as a simple sketch on a napkin by Fr. Barry; a bold vision rooted in faith, dignity, and hope for men experiencing homelessness, has become a life-changing reality.

Through God’s providence and the extraordinary generosity of San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, CrestWood Communities, and many compassionate supporters, Mary’s Village opened its doors in September 2020. Today, it is more than a residence; it is a place of healing, transformation, and renewed purpose, where men are empowered to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Every act of generosity has the power to change a life. Mary’s Village stands as a lasting testament to what is possible when a community answers Christ’s call to serve “the least of these.” Together, through faith and philanthropy, we continue building a future where every person has the opportunity to experience hope, healing, and a place to call home.

A Journey from Homelessness to Hope

Meet Frankie, a current resident of Mary’s Village, as he shares his deeply personal journey of healing, hope, and transformation. Through the compassion of Mary’s Mercy Center and the support of our faith-filled community, Frankie found more than a place to live; he discovered renewed purpose, dignity, and the opportunity to rebuild his life.

His story is a powerful reminder that when we come together in love and service, lives are transformed.

Watch Frankie’s inspiring testimony and see how your generosity helps make new beginnings possible every day.

Phase II – Opening January 2024

Mary’s Village Phase II will provide 16 units of brand-new affordable housing to support our transitional housing program for homeless men. After residents complete our Phase I program, they may become eligible to transition into Phase II housing where they will continue to live in the Mary’s Village community while working and preparing themselves for independent living.  Our Phase II housing project was made possible by a grant from San Manuel and our partnership with Crestwood Communities.
